Sustainability is a popular movement among people today. Climate change activists are using the phrase "the earth is on fire" in their fight against global warming. Humanity's impact on this planet and the way we live our lives has changed the environment. Human beings can change things only if we reduce our footprint. What we are consuming affects the earth from the energy we use to fast fashion and overconsuming. A sustainable lifestyle involves using natural resources and reusing other people's resources to reduce your impact on the environment.

You can live a sustainable life by reducing your carbon footprint, transportation, energy consumption, and food consumption. By practicing sustainable living, you can change your lifestyle and do things you are passionate about. Make changes when you know you can make sustainable efforts. There is a direct link between the decisions you make and the impact they have on the earth. There are so many ways to live and practice sustainability.

FASHION

Second-hand: Shop at second-hand and vintage stores in your community. There are so many websites and stores selling second-hand clothes such as Plato's Closet.

Buy less: Invest in clothing that is of good quality. You want your clothes to last so do not buy clothing constantly. Embrace the clothing you already have in your wardrobe.

Eco-friendly materials: Buy clothing that has natural fibres such as cotton, silk, and linen. Polyester is man-made fibres. Cotton feels good on your body, and it's natural. When washing clothing, it is usually hung to dry instead of being dried in the dryer

Learn to DIY: Make your clothes last longer by hand-sewing and stitching them up yourself instead of throwing them away. If the garment is something you don't want anymore, donate the garment to charity.

Start biking or walking
Invest in a bike for riding around your community. In order to be eco-conscious, one must reduce carbon emissions. Take up biking or walking more instead of driving.

TRANSPORTATION

You can reduce your carbon footprint by using public transportation. By taking the bus or train, fewer cars will be on the road. Emissions will go down as a result. The alternative is to start a carpool with friends or colleagues.

Eat less meat

Meat is expensive to produce and harmful to the environment. Meat production is a carbon emitter that affects the environment.

Don’t waste food

Millions of food or meals are wasted every year. Make sure you eat all of your leftovers, whether you buy it or cook it.

Eat more plant-based

Make plant-based foods a part of your daily diet. A healthy lifestyle is about being conscious of what you eat. Eating more vegetables, fruits is better than consuming meat. Meat is not healthy to consume but protein is important to eat.

REDUCE ENERGY USEAGE

Turn lights off when not in use.
Shut down or unplug computers, laptops and entertainment systems when you are finished with them.
Use your clothesline or drying rack instead of the dryer.
Wash clothes in cold water to reduce hot water use.
Take shorter showers and fewer baths.

EVERYDAY SUSTAINABLE HABITS

Invest in energy-efficient appliances for the home
Buy ethically sourced/produced food
Take eco-friendly bags for grocery shopping
Bring your coffee cup
Use a refillable water bottle
Rechargeable batteries
Stainless metal or glass straws.
Repair your things
Use what you have
Recycle all plastics

In order to live a sustainable lifestyle, you need to consume less. Through our consumer habits, humans accumulate a great deal of waste. Being conscious of what you consume, how you live and what you are doing daily can reduce your footprint. There is a direct correlation between your results and every little change you make.
