Balance social life

Millennials have a much harder
time ‘adulting’ than their parents
did.

Being an adult is difficult in today's society, but being a millennial adult means you are not hitting milestones. Adulthood in today's society isn't easy. Adulthood is accompanied by failures, mood swings, loss, financial struggles, housing issues, and past relationships. Growing up, we learned tools to help young people succeed in the real world. Being an adult doesn't translate into the real world. Adulthood equals doing work to achieve anything. As adults, we must be responsible, have a job, own a home, purchase a car, marry, and have children. We live in a different society and a new world equals a new way of life.

After turning 18, you are an adult, and things change. Adulting does take time and I feel like adulting takes more practice. I am a millennial adult who is struggling in today's society. I consider myself an adult right now but I have nothing right now. My youth is disappearing now and things are starting to change. I am still trying to figure out who I am and what I want to be in life. I am still grinding and in the same place as before. My dreams are moving out of my mother's house, buying a car and landing my dream job in fashion.

I am a black woman who struggles with multiple barriers in our society, workplace and . We all have some privileges, but not everyone is privilege. Adulting is a challenging process for people like me. Adulting means taking care of yourself financially.

CHECK YOUR REALITY

We all have baggage or a resume, which involves money, careers, education, social status, experiences, relationships and personal issues affecting us. A rude awakening can be anytime in your life. A rude awakening is a modern-day reality check. Your current situation or circumstance is your current reality. Life will humble you if you don't humble yourself first. Adulting means appreciating what you have and not what you don't. Improving your life is always recommended. Do you have enough money to take care of yourself and your responsibilities? Life will give you a rude awakening if you do not humble yourself.

RESPONSIVITY

Adulthood involves taking responsibility for every aspect of your life. It's true, taking responsibility for yourself is tough. Being an adult involves so many things. You are responsible for caring for yourself with housing, food, bills and everyday essentials. We make decisions every day, but when they go wrong, sometimes you have to take responsibility for the situation in your life. We all make decisions with logic in mind. Some decisions make sense, and some are learning lessons. Every time a result comes through, take full responsibility for that decision. People are not perfect, but they continue to learn.

FINANCIAL

Take control of your finance and build a foundation. Money becomes something that you lose more than you gain as an adult. Be smarter with your money so you can gain. Money is so personal to you, and how you budget is too. Having an income becomes a responsibility. Adults must pay bills, rent, food and the essentials of everyday life. Finances are a process that changes over time—making realistic goals and plans based on your income or financial situation. Making money mistakes affects your life goals. Your finances have been ruined by overspending and unnecessary debts.

INDEPENDENTS

Being independent is the hardest milestone to hit. Being an independent person takes work, time and money to achieve independence. Also, taking care of your problems or asking for help is part of being independent. Finding freedom means investing in your adult needs day to day. Adults must make decisions and sacrifices. Everything we do as adults is based on our judgment and our choices. Every choice leads to a consequence. The consequences can be significant or minimal. You have to lay on the bed once made. Standing by yourself means taking multiple hits repeatedly. These hits make you an adult. The end result is being the adult you always wanted to be.

ALMOST 30

About to wrap up a decade of my 20s and prepare for my 30s and long term plans. I'm almost 30 and I know what I'm doing if I don't know how to get there. As a 28-year-old, I'm not your average adult. As my life has progressed, I have had setbacks, victories, and let go of the values and beliefs I once held dear. I see life so differently now as I get older. My life is different and that's okay. In gratitude for my life and health, I'm grateful. I'm currently building a life for myself. Currently, I am focusing on getting a career and achieving my personal goals. The cost of adulthood is high, and if you don't have the money, you'll struggle. Being an adult isn't an easy process. Despite not understanding adulthood completely, I am becoming a more mature individual. Making a process requires both a plan and a list. For success, you need to know your order of life and your finances. It was an era of many phases and a journey of spiritual growth for me in my 20s. I'm currently planning for 30 and the foundation I want.
